The 2016 North Carolina Marine Biotechnology and Seafood Symposium will be held October 9 and 10. This is a joint event of the Atlantic Fisheries Technology Conference and the Seafood Science and Technology Society of the Americas.
The venue is near Raleigh, North Carolina at the Hamner Conference Center of the NC Biotechnology Center in the Research Triangle Park.
The symposium will address the supply of sustainable and safe seafood worldwide. Topics include global seafood supply, seafood safety and security, biotechnology and aquaculture and full resource utilization.
Invited speakers include representatives of the FDA-approved AquAdvantage salmon, a genetically modified Atlantic salmon developed by AquaBounty Technologies.
The event is hosted by NC State University Center for Marine Sciences and Technology, NC Biotechnology Center, Marine Bio-Technologies Center of Innovation, and NC Sea Grant.
