The Pacific cod is an important commercial species, especially in Alaska.

Pacific cod are found in the Bering Strait, along the Aleutian Islands, and along Washington, Oregon, and part of California.

Pacific cod are general smaller than but similar in appearance to their relative, the Atlantic cod. Pacific cod are a fast-growing species that may live 12 years or more.

Other names for the species include p-cod, gray cod, gray wolf, or grayfish.

In the U.S., Pacific cod are managed under two Fishery Management Plans: one for the Bering Sea/Aleutian Islands region and the other for the Gulf of Alaska region.
