As consumer awareness of the health benefits of salmon increases, the Norwegian Seafood Export Council (NSEC) is giving consumers a quality resource for information on purchasing, preparing and cooking salmon at home with the newly launched web site, SalmonInSeconds.com.

Norwegian Seafood Export Council's goal for SalmonInSeconds.com is to demystify the preparation and cooking of salmon at home in a fun, healthy and economical way. The web site features informational and cooking demonstration videos and a catalog of printable recipes, along with interactive functions that allow visitors to post comments on the site and instantly share the recipes via Facebook, Twitter and other social networking tools.

SalmonInSeconds.com takes consumers on a visual tour from the supermarket to the home kitchen. Visitors to the site will find information such as what kind of cuts of salmon are available and the differences between them, recommended portion sizes for one person up to large groups and the overall versatility of salmon.

For advice in the kitchen, instructional videos on preparation show consumers how to clean, fillet, remove skin (if desired) and debone a piece of salmon. Additional videos offer fun step-by-step instructions on multiple cooking techniques such as grilling, sautéing and roasting salmon.

Visitors can also search the recipe library on SalmonInSeconds.com for recipes that are all simple to prepare, ranging from kid-friendly to make-ahead meals for entertaining guests. Side dish options are also supplied so users can customize complete meals, and new recipes are added on a regular basis.

The site shares information on the nutritious qualities of salmon, such as the lean protein and omega-3 fatty acids it offers and the health benefits that those provide. Consumers will also learn what makes salmon from Norway unique and the quality control and procedures the NSEC has in place to ensure that U.S. consumers receive the highest quality salmon when they purchase salmon marked "Norwegian" or "from Norway" at their local supermarkets.
