October is prime time for seafood festivals along much of the USA coastal areas. In Chincoteague Island Virginia, The Chincoteague Chamber of Commerce Annual Oyster Festival will be held on Saturday, October 9, 2010. The event is held to promote the seafood industry and mark the arrival of the Oyster season.
Visitors will delight in sampling local oysters on the half-shell, steamed, single-fried, fritters, steamed crabs, clam fritters, clam chowder, hush puppies, potato salad and much more.
There will be live entertainment by the Island Boys for everyone’s enjoyment and the “Best Place/Space Award” is always a favorite. Food is served from noon until 4:00 p.m. and the festival is held rain or shine.
The ticket price is $35 for the all you can eat festival.
